Additions to the Adult Writers' List

home/school/life is a quarterly magazine for secular homeschoolers. It's written for parents but the focus is children, so I thought I'd include it in the list. Submission guidelines are here.

Native Youth Magazine for ages 12-25, is an online publication for those of Native American descent. Adults, as well as youth, may submit articles, poetry, profiles, photos and illustrations. Contact information is here.

Additions to the Young Writers' List

The Telling Room publishes essays, fiction, non-fiction, and poetry written by students ages 6-18. See guidelines here for submitting to their online Stories Page.

Native Youth Magazine encourages youth, ages 12-25, to submit articles, poetry, profiles, photos and illustrations. Contact information is here.

Highlights Crafts and Activities Newsletter

Lisa Glover came on board at Highlights a few months ago as their new Crafts and Activities Editor. She'll be sending out a newsletter from time to time with specific calls for submission and with tips on creating crafts they are more likely to buy. You can sign up for her newsletter here.

Lisa also mentioned a special call for winter holiday crafts and activities. See details here. This particular call has been extended until the end of February.

For more insights into the sorts of things Lisa likes, check out this month's Editor Interview.

This and That

High Five will be closed for submissions from February 15 through May 15, 2018. Any submissions received during this time will be declined. High Five submissions already in process by February 15 will receive a decision during this time.

• Submissions to Kid's Imagination Train are temporarily closed.

Timeless Tales is open to submissions March 12th-22nd for their Snow White issue.

Discontinued

The Story Shack is permanently closed to submissions. Their website will remain and they'll publish in the coming weeks any accepted pieces that are already illustrated, but no new submissions will be accepted.

Imagination Cafe still has a website, but the editor said she is no longer accepting submissions.

My Light appears to have ceased publishing. Nothing new has been on the site in a year and a half.
